‘Team GB dream continues for local entrepreneur and Triathlete’

Local Entrepreneur competes for Team GB in the European Long Distance Duathlon Championships

Ian Hacon, Founder of Yellow Brick Road and Immediate Past President of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, competes for Team GB on Sunday the 8th of May in the European Long Distance Duathlon Championships, held in Copenhagen, Denmark.  The race consists of a 10km run, followed by a 60km bike and then a further 10km run. Ian, who is 47, married with three daughters and from Gorleston, qualified for the 45-49-year-old age group last year. He subsequently went onto to compete for GB in the European Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Weymouth last September.

Ian said “I am absolutely thrilled to be representing my country yet again. I have been training specifically for Duathlons since January and am feeling very strong. Whilst, the training is simpler as you do not need to think about swimming, the discipline is harder as running twice is definitely more of strain on your body that swimming and running once. I am pleased that my fitness levels are just about the highest they have ever been.”

Ian continues…“My journey inspired me to change careers from being a successful CEO, to forming Yellow Brick Road where I help other business leaders on their journey from good to great by focussing predominantly on their wellbeing and effectiveness.”

His duathlon journey was made possible as a result of sponsorship from some of his clients and associated companies, for which he is truly grateful.

Sid Anverali of Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind said: “Ian has done some consulting for us here at Greater Gabbard and we are also very keen to promote healthy lifestyles, so we are delighted to support him. It is great to see a top local businessman competing at such high level and still fitting in family and work.”

Matthew Good, CEO of ACS Consulting in London, said: “Ian is an Associate Partner, so we were delighted to be able to support him in this fantastic achievement again.”

Ian has also qualified for two further GB races this year, firstly the European Middle Distance Triathlon in Austria, and the World Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Oklahoma, both of which are in September. He has set up a crowd-funding site, https://www.pledgesports.org/projects/world-long-distance-tri-champs-oklahoma/ , to help fund the latter, as a trip to the World Championships would be an amazing experience for him.  If you would like to support him, any donations would be gratefully received.
